Hey Hey Party People!!! Alright you got me, that’s not my catch phrase, it’s that of the amazing Zoe Hong! Zoe is a superwoman. She is super talented, at all things fashion and she is just a generous kind human being. Don’t let her fool you she is just the best.
If you don’t know who she is, you really should. She is a teacher of fashion in all it’s forms. If you check out her website you can see that she teaches fashion design process, figure drawing, fashion illustration, fashion industry best practices, general illustration basics, color theory, technical design, and garment construction. She also speaks for classes and has her own youtube channel where she instructs to the masses.
These classes also have companion templates that she sells on etsy. Here’s her store so you can check out how to follow along with the classes. I can’t guarantee you will be an expert straight out of the gate, but if you follow one of her catch phrases “practice not magic” you’ll know that it takes many many hours to be able to get your skills up.
Not only does she have all her teaching skills down she’s also a queen of social media. She has her youtube channel as previously mentioned, but she also has Pinterest Boards, and Instagram page, a facebook group, tumblr, and twitter. I mean for real. If you haven’t heard of Zoe you have been under a rock. She pours out all the juicy details on fashion education and you should do yourself the favour and check her out.
I’ve known Zoe for many years and asked her if she would want me to feature her in my personal branding niche. She kindly accepted and I have been working with her behind the scenes taking photos of her. When photographing for personal brand it’s important to flesh out the stories that the subject wants to tell. Since Zoe teaches so many topics we wanted to tell them all, but one day is not enough time to get them all. That’s why we do a few stories in one session and then regroup in three months to shoot more. From session to session we learn what angles, lighting, and subject matter we like, needs tweaking and how we can get more great photos for the next time. So far Zoe and I have created profile photos, illustration, painting, sewing, behind the scenes set up and lighting. There are many more stories to tell and I hope you subscribe to her channel to learn from her expertise.
